What happened

A February 2, 2026 report says 27 students who live in the district attend outside online schools, which costs the district about $333,000 a year in funding. Staff proposed running a district-led online program instead. A March survey of 18 families drew three replies, all from homeschoolers.

Why it matters to families

Per-student state funding follows the student, so each student who leaves for an online school takes money from a small district. Whether to start a program is still being studied.

The evidence

February 2 agenda item on online learning gives the 27-student and $333,000 figures and the proposal; the March 4 agenda reports the survey results. No vote to start a program appears in the record.
