Bedford weighs two possible 2026–27 school calendars

What happened

The district is weighing two draft calendars, with classes beginning either Sept. 1 or Sept. 2, 2026. The drafts also set different spring-recess dates: one lists March 26 and April 19–23, while the other lists March 22–26 and April 22–23.

Why it matters to families

The calendar determines when students attend school and when families need childcare or travel plans. These are working options, not an adopted calendar, so the final dates are not yet established in these records.

The evidence

The Jan. 28, 2026 Board agenda packet includes Draft 3, labeled “Before Labor Day; Longer Labor Day weekend,” with Sept. 1 as the first school day and spring breaks listed for March 26 and April 19–23 (document 134853). A separate packet attachment, Draft 4, lists Sept. 2 as the first school day and spring breaks March 22–26 and April 22–23 (document 134854). Both are marked as drafts/working documents.
