Consultants hired to study redistricting, school start times and bus routes
What happened
On September 30, 2025 the committee unanimously approved professional consultant services for school redistricting, start times and transportation efficiency, after reviewing proposals from four firms. A Redistricting Advisory Committee began meeting in December 2025 with the consultant, CitygateGIS. In April 2026 a resident told the committee that many families were caught off guard by redistricting proposals and asked for better communication. No redistricting decision appears in the record collected through August 2026, and the advisory committee twice failed to reach a quorum in spring 2026.
Why it matters to families
Redistricting can change which school a child attends and what time the bus comes. This is the study stage, not a decision, but it is the stage where the options are drawn.
The evidence
The September 30, 2025 approved minutes record the unanimous vote approving consultant services for redistricting, start times and transportation efficiency and list the competing proposals; the April 7, 2026 minutes record the public comment about families being caught off guard by redistricting proposals.
