What happened

In August 2026, the board approved a Neola policy update on artificial intelligence. It had a first reading on August 10 and was approved on August 24. Leaders said teachers decide when students may use AI, and that training focuses on using it responsibly without copying or having it do the work. The district also pays for the MagicSchool AI platform ($35,175) and added an AI assistant to its website.

Why it matters to families

This sets the rules for how students and staff may use AI tools in class.

The evidence

In the August 24, 2026 recording, the board approves the second reading of the 'artificial intelligence June 2026' policy special update. The February 25 policy meeting and the June 22 subscription list give the background.
