Garret Schenck and Solon lose another principal

What happened

Principal Amy McDaniel, hired in July for Garret Schenck School and Solon Elementary, resigned effective immediately on Sept. 17, 2026. The superintendent asked the board on Oct. 7 to name former principal Jean Butler as interim principal while the job is re-advertised.

Why it matters to families

These two schools have had four principal decisions since April: Jean Butler resigned in April, the board approved Nathaniel White in June, then Amy McDaniel in July, and now an interim. Frequent leadership changes can disrupt plans, discipline and communication with families.

The evidence

The superintendent's October 2026 board report says McDaniel resigned verbally on Sept. 17 and by email the next day, that the position is advertised, and asks for Butler as interim. Earlier minutes (Apr. 1, June 3, July 7, 2026) record the prior resignation and appointments.
