How is Stratton School District paid for?

Colorado school-finance formula plus local property tax

Stratton School District R-4 serves the town of Stratton in Kit Carson County on Colorado's eastern plains, with an elementary school and a middle/high school and about 220 students. Most money comes from Colorado's per-student funding formula, which mixes local property tax and state aid, so enrollment drives the budget. The five-member elected board adopts the budget and appropriations each June, sets mill levies each December, and works with Superintendent Julie Shue. Board members are sworn in after November elections held in odd years.

2026-27 budget
