What happened

The Oct. 15 agenda asks trustees to ratify a $3 million expansion of the Magnolia High School improvements project. The added work covers CTE culinary-arts improvements and a CTE classroom at the Magnolia Agriscience Community Center, bringing the project cost ceiling to $3.63 million.

Why it matters to families

The proposed construction would expand career-technical education facilities at Magnolia, while adding more than $3 million to the project’s original scope.

The evidence

Agenda item 13.1 says construction is underway and proposes Amendment No. 1 for the added CTE Culinary Arts and Magnolia Agriscience Community Center CTE Classroom scope. It increases the guaranteed maximum price by $3,007,454.58; total project costs including contingencies and allowances would not exceed $3,633,095.54. The agenda recommends ratification; it does not establish the board’s vote.
