May trustee election canceled; former member appointed to empty seat
What happened
The May 2, 2026 election for Single Member Districts 2 (Cliff McGuire) and 3 (Rusty Stocks) was canceled because no one ran against them. Trustee Wesley Alsabrook was absent from every meeting from November 2025 through May 2026 and was listed 10.5 hours short on required training. On June 23 the board appointed former member Joel Torres III to finish the Single Member District 5 term.

Voters did not get to choose in May, and one seat was filled by appointment instead of election.

The February 25, 2026 minutes record a 4-0 vote to "cancel the May 2, 2026 School Trustee Election" due to unopposed candidates. The April 22, 2026 minutes list board training hours including "Wesley Alsabrook Deficit 10.5 hours." The June 23, 2026 minutes record a 4-0 vote to "appoint Joel Torres, III a previous board member to complete the Single Member District #5 Term."
