District news

Enrollment down about 121 students

High-risk

What happened

As of September 16, 2026, the division counted 4,143 students in kindergarten through grade 12, which the superintendent described as down 121 students. About 285 kindergartners entered while about 385 seniors graduated, and King George Elementary dropped to 524 students.

Why it matters to families

State money is tied to enrollment, so fewer students can mean less state aid in next year's budget.

The evidence

Student Enrollment discussion item, September 21, 2026: K-12 total 4,143 as of 9/16/26, compared with 4,334 on 8/14/25.
