Immunization policy drops a public-health authorization option

Day-to-day

What happened

Revised immunization policy JLCB, on second reading October 13, removes the option to attend school with a signed parent request for public health officials to give the shots. Students would need an up-to-date certificate or a medical or nonmedical exemption.

Why it matters to families

The draft also says parents will receive the state immunization document each year, including the school's measles-mumps-rubella vaccination and exemption rates. The regulation allows suspension of up to 5 days after a 30-day window to comply.

The evidence

Tracked changes in the October 13, 2026 agenda attachment for JLCB show the deleted authorization option and the new annual notice.
