Proposed purchasing rules raise bidding thresholds

Financial

What happened

Revised purchasing policies (DJB and DJB-R) raise the limit for small purchases without quotes from $10,000 to $15,000 and the level that triggers formal bidding from $250,000 to $350,000.

Why it matters to families

Higher thresholds mean more district spending can happen with fewer competitive quotes. The old rule requiring the superintendent to sign anything over $5,000 is replaced by a two-quote standard.

The evidence

Tracked changes in the DJB and DJB-R attachments to the October 13, 2026 agenda show the old and new amounts. These are proposed revisions on second reading.
