What happened

LCPS says it expanded existing Gmail and YouTube restrictions to grades 3–5 in August 2026. K–2 students already had those restrictions. Teachers can still show selected YouTube content, and Drive, Docs and Slides remain available.

Why it matters to families

Elementary families may see different tools on school accounts. This change does not describe a new restriction on Rock Ridge High School students.

The evidence

The September 22 district announcement distinguishes direct student access from teacher-selected instructional videos and names the affected grades.
