What happened

The board revised Policy 8155 so qualifying special-permission and boundary-exception students may finish their current school. Moving to the next middle or high school still requires a new application and available capacity. Some social or emotional transfers require documented continued need.

Why it matters to families

Families should not assume that permission carries through a whole feeder path. The final October rule is narrower than September’s through-graduation proposal.

The evidence

The October 13 adopted readback keeps current-school continuity without annual reapplication or a new capacity review, but requires reapplication at the next school level. Elementary sibling provisions are subject to the policy and capacity rules.
