Board adopts safeguards for temporary removal from learning

What happened
The board adopted Policy 5340 for safe and supportive temporary removal from learning. It includes moving classmates while a student stays to calm down. It calls for 24-hour parent notice for an individual student’s removal and administrative review after three removals involving that student.
Why it matters to families
The policy sets expectations for notice, supervision and review when a student or class loses access to its usual setting.
The evidence
The September 8 board unanimously adopted the policy and added the classroom-removal definition. A separate new classroom-notification amendment was not adopted.
