What happened

The Board approved a one-year, $671,000 agreement with Family Violence Law Center for Gender-Based Violence Specialists at Oakland High School, Madison Park Academy, Dewey Academy, Oakland Technical High School, and Ralph J. Bunche Academy. The agreement runs September 24, 2026, through September 24, 2027, and provides prevention, crisis support, case management, referrals, and weekly trauma-informed groups.

Why it matters to families

The approval moves the proposal into a funded district service, giving students at five campuses dedicated support for gender-based violence, including domestic and intimate-partner violence and commercial sexual exploitation.

The evidence

The district-published September 23 special-meeting transcript (document 97520) records a motion to approve item 26-2116, a roll-call vote, and adoption. The linked official agreement agenda PDF (document 97518) specifies the $671,000 cap, five school sites, service term and scope, and central-concentration funding.
