What happened

OUSD’s Oct. 14 agenda proposes accepting $41,174,339 in new state funding for its 2026–27 Expanded Learning Opportunities Plan. The plan would provide after-school, weekend, intersession and summer programming for TK–6 students who want it, totaling 205 days of supplemental out-of-school time.

Why it matters to families

The plan would direct a major new state allocation toward learning and supervision outside regular school hours across elementary grades, expanding access to programs throughout the school year and summer.

The evidence

The Oct. 14, 2026 board cover memorandum (File ID 26-1986) asks the Board to approve the 2026–27 plan and accept a $41,174,339 California Department of Education allocation. It states that the plan provides after-school, weekend, intersession and summer programs for TK–6 students who desire them for 205 days. This is an agenda proposal, not an established approval.
